Water, Sewer, Trash and Recycling
​

Water, sewer, trash and recycling services are provided to residents through the City of Dexter.

At initial setup, there is a connection fee (new built homes) as well as a deposit required at that time. Bills are mailed to residents monthly and can be paid in person at city hall using the drop box outside the door. Residents can also mail their payment to city hall.


Trash pickup day is every Tuesday.


Recycling pickup day is every other Tuesday.

Electricity

Electricity is provided to Dexter residents by Alliant Energy. More information can be found on their website here.

Natural Gas

Natural Gas is provided to Dexter residents by Mid-American Energy. More information can be found on their website here.

Telephone, TV and Internet
​

Dexter has multiple options for local telephone, tv and internet.
 

Medicom offers telephone, tv and internet. You can find more information here.
 

Windstream offers both telephone and internet services. You can find more information here.
 

There are also options for satellite television through DirecTV and DISH Network.

Mail
​

The zip code for the City of Dexter is 50070. If you are on a mail route, your mailbox will be located at your home. If not, you will be assigned a PO Box. If you live on a mail route and would like a PO Box, for a fee, you can rent one.
 

To have mail delivery started, or to get yourself a P.O. Box, stop by the Dexter Post Office at 702 Marshall St, or call 515-789-4000.
 

Dexter Post Office Hours of Operation:

Monday – Friday:   8:00am – 12:00pm

Saturday:   9:00am – 10:00am

Sunday and Holidays:   Closed
 

Lobby: Open daily until 8pm

Yard Waste
​

Yard waste can be taken to the city compost pile. The compost pile is located on the west side of D Avenue located south of Brown Street.
